Meet Manfred

For more than five decades, Manfred Franck has dedicated his life to the German Shepherd Dog. What began in the early 1970s as a young man’s admiration for the breed quickly grew into a lifelong commitment to preserving the classic West German Shepherd — a dog of calm character, strong nerve, and balanced structure.

Raised around working dogs and drawn to the intelligence and loyalty of the German Shepherd, Manfred developed a deep understanding of temperament, behavior, and true breed type long before he ever bred his first litter.

His philosophy has remained simple:

A German Shepherd must be a steady companion first — trustworthy, clear-headed, and deeply bonded to the family it serves.

In 1970, he founded Zwinger vom Teufelsfelsen, named after the rugged rocky terrain surrounding his home — a place that shaped both the dogs and the kennel’s identity. Since then, dogs carrying the Teufelsfelsen name have enriched families, competed in the show ring, and become loyal partners in daily life.

His passion naturally led him into the world of dog shows, where he spent decades learning from judges, respected breeders, and mentors within the German Shepherd community. Over the years, his dogs earned titles and recognition — but more importantly, they consistently demonstrated the temperament and structure he values most.

Despite decades of experience and accomplishments, Manfred’s connection to his dogs has always remained deeply personal. He believes a German Shepherd is not simply a pedigree or a show title — but a living soul entrusted to his care.

To him, dogs are not animals to be managed; they are partners, companions, and individuals with spirit and character. Each one is treated with patience, respect, and genuine affection. He knows their temperaments, their strengths, and their sensitivities.

They are raised with love.

Manfred often says that a great dog is built not only through bloodline and training, but through the bond it forms with its handler and family. Titles matter. Structure matters. But heart matters just as much.

Manfred remains closely connected to German Shepherd clubs and organizations, maintaining strong ties to the traditions and standards established in Germany. These relationships continue to guide his understanding of bloodlines, structure, and responsible breeding.

Despite the accomplishments, his kennel has always remained small, personal, and family-run. Every dog is known by personality, not just pedigree. Every breeding decision is made with care — never volume. Every puppy is raised with intention, respect, and a steady hand.

Today, Manfred continues to steward the Teufelsfelsen bloodline with the same devotion he carried in 1970. His life with German Shepherds spans generations — not only of dogs, but of families whose lives they have touched.

“A good dog is not measured only by titles, but by the life it shares with its family.”

Zwinger vom Teufelsfelsen remains a reflection of Manfred’s values: tradition, loyalty, and deep respect for the West German Shepherd.
