GSKennel vom Treasure Island

German Shepherds and Tatra Sheepdogs

My kennel began in 1970 in Białystok, Poland, where I bred both German Shepherds and Tatra Sheepdogs. After several years, I decided to focus exclusively on German Shepherds. The first breeding dogs I purchased were Neska vom La Plata and Berg vom Zollgrenzschutz.

I joined the Kennel Club in Białystok and began cooperating with breeders and exhibitors within the club. I also collaborated with the outstanding German Shepherd breeder and expert Ryszard Gesinowski of the kennel z Krywlan. We had very fruitful cooperation with Bolesław Weselski of the kennel Weselska Zagroda, as well as with one of the most respected German Shepherd judges in Poland and throughout Europe, Zbigniew Szcześniak from Bydgoszcz. Another well-known judge and author on the German Shepherd Dog, Mr. Marian Szymankiewicz, was also influential. He maintained strong connections with breeders in Germany.

Through these relationships, excellent breeding stock was brought from Germany. Almost all of our dogs were bred to some of the best dogs available in Bydgoszcz. The kennels mentioned above began producing outstanding dogs that won shows and achieved success in Schutzhund trials, not only in Poland but also in other countries.

In 1988, I moved to New Jersey with the dream of continuing to breed and improve the German Shepherd Dog. I began searching for quality breeding stock in the United States, but at that time there were not many suitable dogs available.

In 2001, I moved to Florida and settled on Treasure Island, where I established my kennel, vom Treasure Island. After searching extensively within the U.S. for top breeding stock and finding nothing that met my standards, I turned to my longtime friend and respected breeder in Poland, Ryszard Gesinowski, for assistance. Ryszard consistently bred high-quality dogs in Germany. His dogs were placed many times in the first ring at the BSZS (Bundessiegerzuchtschau) in Germany and won numerous shows throughout Europe, earning many VA ratings.

In 2009, I purchased Puma z Krywlan. Her mother was V Astra von der Jaeger Allee, and her father was VA4 Kwantum vom Klostermoor.

The following year, I brought another beautiful puppy, Vinci z Krywlan, from VA1 Lena z Krywlan and 2x VA1 Vegas du Haut Mansard. Both dogs later returned to Germany and earned their titles; Puma achieved SchH2, and Vinci achieved SchH3.

During this time, I also acquired another exceptional female, Mary von der Fangschleuse, who was sent to Germany, where she earned her SchH1 title and was also bred there.

This is a short account of a dedicated breeder whose primary goal has always been to breed healthy, sound, and happy German Shepherds of the highest quality.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
